Dark Age Timber A-Frame House
|
|
Item Number: DA002
Manufacturer: Architects of War
|
The small A-Frame house was a common structure throughout Great Britain and other parts of Europe from about 600 AD and onwards. They were very simple in construction and in some ways not much more than a covered pit. This type of structure used the least amount of material yet proved relatively robust against the elements. The simple door had either soft iron hinges and hardware or in some cases all wood. Some but not all were lockable. The interior had a floor of packed earth, little in the way of real furniture, and usually a pile of straw filled mattresses, furs and course blankets were the only beds. Cooking could be done inside though it was preferable to do it outside whenever weather permitted. The central fire pit was the only source of warmth in the winter and could use peat or dried dung for fuel if sufficient wood was not available.
This is the all timber version. Built in areas where wood was plentiful, it would not only be found in parts of Great Britain, but in the heavy forested areas of a continent like Norway and the home of the Franks.
This kit consists of the building and the removable roof cast in our special easy to paint resin and features a working metal door and some metal details. Most of the interior is molded into the floor and done in easy to paint relief.
Overall size of the 28mm A Frame house is 3 high by 5 wide by 7 long.
This is kit that contains metal and small parts. This Product is NOT A TOY and is recommended for Hobbyists ages 14 and up.
